What the Work Involves
We take the old deck down in sections and keep the area under it under control. Once the boards are off we can see if any of the framing or footings are good enough to stay. Anything we reuse goes in the scope in writing, and everything else gets rebuilt for the new layout.

Resurfacing Isn't Replacing
Resurfacing keeps the frame and puts on new decking and usually new railing. Replacement takes the whole structure out and starts over. If the joist spacing doesn’t match the new decking or the ledger’s got water damage, resurfacing can cause more problems than it saves.Plan the New Stairs Before Demo
Stairs take up more yard than most people think. We mark where the bottom landing’s gonna be before the old deck comes down, so the new stairs don’t end up landing in front of a gate, on top of a utility, or in a low spot that holds water. When the Old Deck Is Bigger Than It Needs to Be
Sometimes the old deck was built bigger than anybody uses, and the far end just sits there getting rotten. A replacement’s a good time to size it to how you actually use the yard. A smaller deck with better stairs and a railing you like can cost less than putting back the same footprint.Pricing guidanceHow Deck Replacement Is Priced in Indianapolis, IN
How much there is to tear out, how easy it is to haul, the shape of the footings, how high the deck is, and the new design all change what replacement costs. Keeping good footings or framing can cut the work down, but we only say so after the structure’s opened up and we’ve looked at it.
